I recommend it specially to civil law students and scholars who want to understand not only the US criminal procedure, but specially how the US law can trace precise borders between state permited and state prohibited action. The difference with the Brazilian legal system is very big, specially in this regard. I recommend also "Don't Shoot: One man, a street fellowship and the end of violence in inner city america", from David Kennedy which told the history of the american criminal politics and "When Brute Force Fails: How to have less crime and less punishment", an analisys of the so called "zero tolerance" politics, from Mark Kleiman.
