Not worth $50

I bought this audio lecture hoping to review Federal Courts on a road trip before finals. The lecturer is good, and states things in a clear way, but the three-hour audio lecture is too cursory to be of any help for studying. The lecturer also spent valuable time repeating over an over again how this is important for a test. I don't need to hear you say it five times. Just get on with the lecture! All in all, these three CDs are definitely NOT worth the $50. I wish I had just studied on my own for three hours.

A very worthwhile course

Professor John C. Jeffries Jr. has delivered a very worthwhile course here on federal courts. He covers the major areas of federal jurisdiction in reasonable depth (diversity of citizenship, "arising under" jurisdiction commonly known as federal question jurisdiction), as well as problems of federalism. Problems of federalism are very important when it comes to federal courts, and the problems bring in fundamental concepts of constitutional law. Jeffries also touches on some key problems in civil rights law, such as implied rights of action, etc. He covers the 11th amendment, an obscure but fascinating area of federal law. Jeffries is one of my favourite lecturers in this Law School Legends series. He is an accomplished scholar and it was a bit of a coup to get him to record these lectures.
This course should be helpful to law students. It can be used as a kind of follow up course on civil procedure (some areas) and constitutional law (some areas). But I would also encourage other citizens and persons to purchase this, at least in the United States, to be knowledgeable about some of the major aspects and concepts and applications of federalism and the federal jurisdiction. Well worth your money, especially if under, say, $40. I don't regret this purchase at all. In fact I cherish this product. It is one of my favourite series of lectures of any kind, and especially of my law lecture products, and have gone back to it periodically over the years to refresh my knowledge.
